Author: David Byers, PhD
Article Abstract:
After noting the differences between patent, copyright and trademarks, Dr. Byers establishes some common ground at the end of an ITEST workshop on Patenting of Biologicals. Biotechnology is as likely to confer great power for good as for ill; while rapid technological advances continue, the light of Christian moral tradition and wisdom should shed light on these advances; under no conditions should individual human beings be patented; the science, business and religious communities join in sharing views about the development of human genetics and its future; religious communities should bring the message of faith and hope to this discussion.
