Article Abstract:

This paper, presented in England at the 1998 PAX ROMANA CONFERENCE, contains encouragement for scientists and theologians alike to accept and take advantage of the opportunities “…for enriching dialogue between representatives of the scientific community and the Church (here, meaning theologians) proclaiming the truth of integral human existence.” Rather than an “artificial” isolation imposed on the disciplines of science and religion, there should be a deep and “natural” understanding of the compatibility and convergence of the two disciplines. Conflict between them is a “myth” that will be dispelled by mutual understanding and dialogue.
