Article Abstract:
Computing and Convergence: Institutional technology planning today often centers around an unspoken premise – Technology=Computers. Yet the forces of technological change in the digital era go far beyond the limited impact of desktop computing alone. The driving technologies that have directed our migration from analog to digital media will be explored in this paper, comparing “convergence” to past technological “revolutions” in the context of Alvin Toffler’s observations in “Future Shock.”
