This short excerpt is part of a longer essay written for the ITEST conference on The Family of the future: The Future of the Family. The foreword and table of contents of the book may be found on the ITEST web site under books.

The author disagrees with this assertion arguing that the family is alive and well yet in need of some help from the scientific and faith communities.
