Article Abstract:

This short excerpt is part of a longer essay written for the ITEST conference on The Family of the future: The Future of the Family. The foreword and table of contents of the book may be found on the ITEST web site under books.

Is the family as we have know it in the past dead? According to an international group of marriage and family therapists who met in 1994, if the family is not dead it is at least on the way out. The author disagrees with this assertion arguing that the family is alive and well yet in need of some help from the scientific and faith communities.
